Why it matters

A treatment plant can't just go offline.

Flow never stops. A community's sewage keeps arriving whether or not the plant is mid-rehab. Shut the wrong process down, or run a bypass that can't keep up, and you get backups, overflows, and permit violations — the kind that put an authority in front of the DEP.

On a live wastewater system, there's no margin for a contractor learning on the job. The bypass has to hold the first time, every time.
